The UGC NET Provisional Answer Key for June 2025 has been released. The exam was conducted from 25th to 29th June 2025. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the National Eligibility Test (NET) twice a year, in about 85 subjects. The purpose of the exam is to assess the eligibility of the candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Assistant Professor posts at higher education institutes in India. Key highlights about the UGC NET June 2025 Exam are:
- The exam comprises two papers - Paper 1 which is common for all candidates, while Paper 2 is a subject-specific test.
- Candidates can choose from 85 subjects from the subject list, based on the subject they have studied at the Master's level.
- Candidates with Master’s degrees or equivalent examinations from universities/ institutions recognised by UGC with a minimum of 55% Marks applied for the Exam.
- There is no upper age limit for the post of Assistant Professor.

- Go to the official UGC NET website to access the application form. Make sure to use the authentic site to avoid any fraudulent platforms. Click on the link to Register for June 2025.
- When you click on the registration link, you will be redirected to the next page. Click on 'New Candidate Register Here'. Read the instructions and proceed.
- On the next page, enter your Aadhar/ PAN details to generate the OTP. Then enter the required details and register yourself. You will be provided the Registration Number and Password.
- Use the login credentials (registration number and password) created during registration to access the application form. Fill out all the necessary personal, educational, and contact details as required and complete the NET Application Form.
- Upload your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the required format. Ensure that both the photo and signature meet the specified size and resolution guidelines.
- After filling out the form, proceed to pay the application fee using available online payment options like debit/credit card or net banking. The fee will vary based on your category.
- Once the payment is successful, take a printout of the completed application form. This will be useful for future reference, such as during admit card download or result declaration.

UGC NET 2025 Selection Process
The UGC National Eligibility Test is a qualifying exam for candidates willing to apply for Assistant Professor and JRF posts in Government Universities and Institutes. The selection process for the appointment of the NET-qualified candidates to these posts will be decided by the respective institution. However, to qualify for the NET exam candidates must keep in mind the following:
- The candidates from the general category should score 40% in aggregate (in both papers) and the candidates from other categories need to secure at least 35% in aggregate in order to qualify for the post of Assistant Professor & JRF
- 6% of the total candidates who appeared will be qualified for the post of assistant professor.
- The number of candidates qualified or rejected is decided based on the formula developed by UGC which can be understood by the example given below-

UGC NET 2025 Eligibility
Before applying for the exam, candidates must fulfil the following UGC NET Eligibility requirements: Thos who do not fulfil these requirements will bedisqualfied.
- To be eligible for the UGC NET, the candidates must have a Master’s degree with an aggregate of 55%.
- Candidates with a 4 year graduation degree with at least 75% aggregate can appear for UGC NET JRF and Ph.D admissions.
- The candidates who appear for the exam should not be above the age of 30 years. However, candidates applying for the Assistant Professor post have no upper age limit restrictions.
UGC NET 2025 Exam Pattern
The UGC NET is an MCQ-based exam comprising 150 questions for 300 marks. It is conducted online through the CBT mode. The detailed UGC NET June 2025 Exam Pattern is explained below.

The UGC NET Cut Off Marks are announced on the NTA UGC NET website, in a few weeks after the exam. The cut-off is released subject-wise. Candidates need to score more than the respective category-wise cut-off for the subject they appeared for. Those who score less than the cut-off will be disqualified.
