Given:

p + q = 7 

p2 + q2 = 25

Formula used:

(p + q)2 = p2 + q2 + 2pq

Calculation:

p + q = 7 

p2 + q2 = 25

(p + q)2 = p2 + q2 + 2pq

72 = 25 + 2pq

⇒ 2pq = 49 - 25

⇒ 2pq = 24

⇒ pq = 12

∴ The value of pq = 12.
