The Indian Coast Guard AC Selection Process comprise 5 stages. These include the following:
The Screening Test (CGCAT) is a computer-based exam that evaluates candidates on subjects like English, Reasoning, General Science, and General Knowledge. It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with four marks awarded for each correct answer and a negative mark for every incorrect response. The test duration is 2 hours, and candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the exam for the next stage.
The Preliminary Selection Board (PSB) involves a Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and a Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). Candidates must demonstrate cognitive skills and participate in a group discussion. PSB is held at designated centers across India and is qualifying in nature, where candidates must pass both assessments to move forward.
The Final Selection Board (FSB) spans over five days and includes a Psychological Test, Group Task, and a Personal Interview. Candidates undergo extensive evaluation to assess their psychological fitness, teamwork, and leadership skills. Successful candidates in this stage proceed to the next phase, which is the Medical Examination.
Candidates who clear the FSB undergo a Special Medical Examination at designated military hospitals. Those declared unfit can appeal for a review medical exam within 21 days. Based on the appeal, a Review Medical Board (RMB) may be conducted to reassess their medical fitness. The decision of the RMB is final.
Candidates who pass the medical examination and stand in the All India Merit List are selected for the Naval Orientation Course (NOC) at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala. Induction is scheduled by the end of December 2025, and selected candidates undergo photo and biometric verification before starting their training.
