Question
Download Solution PDFWhat is the peak to peak voltage for an AC voltage with RMS 220 V? (Consider square root of 2 as 1.4)
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFConcept
The relationship between RMS and peak-to-peak voltage for an AC signal is given by:
\(V_{RMS}={V_m\over \sqrt{2}}\)
where, Vm = Peak value (maximum value)
VP-P = Peak-to-peak value
\(V_m=\sqrt{2}V_{RMS}\)
VP-P= 2 × Vm
Calculation
Given, VRMS = 220 V
Vm = 1.4 × 220
Vm = 308 V
VP-P= 2×308 = 616 V
