Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Rs. 5,000 is divided into two parts such that if one part is invested 4% and the other at 5%
The whole annual interest from both sums is Rs. 223
Calculation:
Let the 1st investment be Rs x
So, the 2nd investment = Rs. (5000 - x)
According to the question,
x × 4/100 + (5000 - x) × 5/100 = 223
⇒ 4x/100 + 250 - 5x/100 = 223
⇒ 250 - 223 = 5x/100 - 4x/100
⇒ 27 = x/100
⇒ x = 2700
So, 1st investment was Rs. 2700
∴ The required answer is Rs. 2700.
