Given:

A + B can do work in 4 days

A alone can do work in 12 days

Formula used:

Efficiency = Work/Time

Total work = LCM of 4 and 12 = 12 units

Calculation:

Total work = 12 units

Efficiency of A + B = 12 ÷ 4 = 3 units/day

Efficiency of A = 12 ÷ 12 = 1 unit/day

Efficiency of B = 3 - 1 = 2 units/day

Days taken by B = 12 ÷ 2 = 6 days

∴ B alone can do the work in 6 days.
