The UPSC IFS will be conducted between November 20 and November 27, 2022. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination to recruit officers for the forest management of the country at an All India level. UPSC IFS Exam Pattern 2022

Mains Examination

You must first pass the preliminary exam to appear for the main exam. The performance of the candidates in the mains test will determine the final merit list.

  • The Mains exam will consist of written/descriptive papers.
  • Papers III, IV, V, and VI - Any two subjects from the list of optional subjects may be chosen. There will be two papers for each subject. — Each paper will carry 200 marks.
  • Only the answer scripts of candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks set by the UPSC for Paper-II (General Knowledge), will be evaluated.

The Main exam pattern for the UPSC IFS post is as follows: 

  • The written Mains exam will have six papers.
  • Paper I and Paper II are on General English and General Knowledge respectively.
  • Papers III, IV, V, and VI will require the candidates to select two optional subjects from the list given above.
  • Each paper carries 300 marks.
  • Each subject will have two papers - Paper I and Paper-II. Each paper has a maximum time duration of 3 hours.
