Children Apperception Test' or 'CAT' is a kind of projective test invented by psychologist 'Leopold Bellak' for children of three to ten years of age.

• It was an offshoot of psychologist Henry Murray's Thematic Apperception Test in which people portraying cards are used to evaluate children's personalities.

• In CAT test, picture cards are given to children to reveal and evaluate their interests.
• Children’s observation power, pattern of thoughts, etc are recognized while they give responses to those cards.
• The CAT Cards substitute 'animals for people' by assuming that the children would identify the pictures of animal easily than that of people and would give significant responses.
