Given:

Population increases by 50% from 2019 to 2020

Population increases by 40% from 2020 to 2021

Formula used:

Population growth = Base × (1 + % increase)

Required % = (Final value / Initial value) × 100

Calculations:

Let population at end of 2019 = 100

Population at end of 2020 = 100 × (1 + 50/100) = 100 × 1.5 = 150

Population at end of 2021 = 150 × (1 + 40/100) = 150 × 1.4 = 210

Required % = (210 / 100) × 100 = 210%

∴ The population in 2021 is 210% of the population at the end of 2019.
