Download Solution PDFA T flip-flop, also known as a toggle flip-flop, has a single input called T (toggle) and a single output Q. When the T input is high (logic 1) and the flip-flop is triggered by a clock pulse, the output toggles between its previous state and its complemented state.
In other words, if the output was 0 before the , it becomes 1 after the pulse; if it was 1, it becomes 0.
By using T flip-flops in a counter, we can create a circuit that counts by toggling the output of each flip-flop on each clock pulse.
For example, in a 2-bit counter, we can use two T flip-flops connected in a chain, with the output of the first flip-flop connected to the input of the second flip-flop, and the clock input of both flip-flops connected to the same clock signal.
The output of the first flip-flop toggles on each clock pulse, and the output of the second flip-flop toggles on each second clock pulse, creating a 2-bit binary count.
