The online strife between United States President Donald Trump and former DOGE head Elon Musk isn’t ending anytime soon. On Saturday, Trump declared that he has no desire to repair their relationship. He warned that his campaign benefactor, (Elon Musk) could face “serious consequences” if he tries to help the Democrats in the upcoming elections.
In a telephonic interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, when asked whether his relationship with Tesla CEO Musk is over, Trump stated, “I would assume so, yeah.” He added that he has no plans to mend the relationship with his former ally. Pointing out how he helped and supported Musk during his first administration, Trump said that that now he has no intention of speaking to him.
“I’m too busy doing other things, you know, I won an election in a landslide. I gave him a lot of breaks, long before this happened, I gave him breaks in my first administration, and saved his life in my first administration, I have no intention of speaking to him,” Trump remarked.
On the speculation that Musk may back Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterm elections, Trump warned that he will have to face consequences. While he didn’t specify what the consequences would be, it is clear that Mr President won’t let him go easy.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump added.
JD Vance Reacts
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance reacted to the Trump-Musk spat, stating that he is always going to be loyal to him (Trump). He remarked on Theo Von’s podcast that Musk had made a huge mistake by going after Trump like that.
“First of all, absolutely not. Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein. That’s totally bs. I’m always going to be loyal to the president. And I hope that eventually Elon kind of comes back into the fold. Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear,” Vance said.
“It’s going to be bad for the country and I don’t think it’s going to be good for Elon either,” he added.

Notably, the dramatic spat between Trump and Musk unfolded after Tesla CEO criticised Trump’s spending legislation. Musk warned that the bill would “massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to USD 2.5 trillion”, suggesting “Congress is making America bankrupt.” In a series of post on X, Musk called the bill a “disgusting abomination.”
