WhatsApp recently tested a new file-sharing feature similar to Quick Share, enabling users to exchange files effortlessly. Now, the messaging app is enhancing this tool, allowing wireless file sharing between Android and iPhone without the need for the internet. That’s correct.
Currently under development, this feature aims to simplify file sharing. By not requiring an internet connection, it leverages Bluetooth and nearby device features to ensure secure transfers.

WhatsApp beta features are frequently highlighted by WeBetaInfo, and the latest update is no exception. This week’s iOS beta version of WhatsApp introduces a tool called Nearby Share.
This feature enables users to share media content, documents, and other files using Wi-Fi Direct, allowing transfers between two iPhones or between an Android and an iPhone. The key distinction for iOS WhatsApp users is the inclusion of a QR code, which must be scanned by the receiving user to initiate the file transfer.

Nearby Share on iOS is currently restricted to the internal testing group, but it is anticipated that Meta will make it available to all iPhone WhatsApp users soon.
Earlier this year, the file transfer tool was tested with Android beta users. Typically, file transfer relies on Bluetooth connectivity between two devices, and WhatsApp employs a similar method here.
The messaging app will enable users to share files up to 2GB. This tool might become the preferred method for sending files over chats once it is officially released.
