New Delhi: iPhone users in India will begin receiving software updates that support 5G services, according to a statement from Apple Inc.
“We are working with our carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed. 5G will be enabled via a software update and will start rolling out to iPhone users in December,” the cupertino-based tech giant told Moneycontrol.
Apple iPhone SE (3rd Generation), iPhone 12, and later iPhone models currently support 5G networks.
Apple is testing 5G for 5G networks on several iPhone models. Users should expect better call quality, video streaming, download and upload speeds, and, most critically, enhanced reliability on 5G networks in India while using iPhones 12 and higher, which include a 5G modem.
A different story from Reuters claims that the Indian government is pressuring Apple and Samsung to include 5G connectivity in their most recent smartphones. Indian iPhone users are still unable to access the newer and faster network two years after Apple originally provided capability for 5G with the iPhone 12 in 2020. The Indian government will meet on Wednesday with representatives from Apple, Samsung, and the nation’s top carriers “to prioritise” including 5G support in the newest devices.
