Apple is preparing to debut a new expansive gaming application that would soon be available across its devices at the WWDC this year. This would help the brand execute a significant push into a new gaming territory as it seeks to establish itself as a major player in the market. The company would pre install the new gaming application on iPhone, iPad, MAC and Apple TV devices as part of its iOS 19, which launches in September.

The timing for such a launch appears strategic, with Nintendo’s highly anticipated Switch 2 console launching on June 5, just before Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9, when the gaming apps would be officially unveiled. The new application would replace Apple’s long dormant Game Center service, which debuted in 2010, since it failed to gain significant traction, it’s possible that the reactions this time around would be different.

A Mac Version of the Gaming Application

Beyond this, a Mac version is also planned that can display games downloaded outside the official App Store, addressing a Key Limitation for the desktop enthusiasts.  Apple has further emphasized on third party partnerships and promises on continued partnerships further ahead.

The new development comes as gaming applications generates Two-Thirds of Apple App store revenue through games and in app purchases. The new app launch seals another vacuum that existed in the industry. With the new change, gamers would have an easy access to the games of their choice in a centralized manner. No longer would they have to suffer to keep different applications and apps in sync.
